Rating Lists

This page is the rating hub of the IJCCRL chess engines ratings lists ecosystem. It preserves the split between the Derived Stockfish Track and the Original UCI Track, separates rating surfaces by time control, and exposes the rating publication status without pretending scientific closure where the underlying match base is still provisional, event-bound or under rebuild.

IJCCRL Arena Series Two-track structure Time-control split Controlled rebuild May 2026 status loaded

Reading rule

  • Rating lists are technical publication surfaces, not promotional pages.
  • They must state track, time control, status, sample maturity and methodological scope clearly.
  • Where the underlying match base is still incomplete or methodologically unstable, the rating surface must read as provisional, event-stage or under rebuild.
  • Scientific closure should only be claimed when the competition base is sufficiently homogeneous, auditable and separated by track.

Operational doctrine

  • Derived branch: Derived Stockfish Track.
  • Original branch: Original UCI Track.
  • Controls: Classical, Blitz and Bullet.
  • Closed outputs: route to Downloads, Archive and Winners when appropriate.

Rating Publication Structure

Derived Stockfish Track

These surfaces are intended for rating publication within the derived branch of the IJCCRL Arena Series. Their tables must stay separate from the Original UCI Track and must not be treated as a universal computer-chess strength scale.

Classical / Blitz / Bullet

Use separate rating pages by time control, but do not claim final scientific authority until the regular-phase and cross-play base is sufficiently consistent and auditable. Knockout audits may be published as support records without rewriting the official league Elo surface.

Original UCI Track

These surfaces are intended for rating publication within the original branch of the IJCCRL Arena Series. This branch remains the primary international lane for original UCI engine competition and must stay separated from derived-engine history.

Classical / Blitz / Bullet

Keep the naming aligned with the Original UCI Track and apply the same publication discipline used in the derived branch. Classical, Blitz and Bullet surfaces must remain independent because time control changes the interpretation of Elo estimates.

Current Rating Surfaces — May 2026

Original UCI Track — current surfaces

The Original UCI Track now contains active and/or publication-valid rating surfaces that must be exposed from this hub while keeping provisional status visible where the competition is still running.

Classical — Original UCI Track

Official Classical surface currently closed at 180/180 in the published cycle. This is the strongest current Original UCI rating reference and should remain separated from derived-engine data.

Track Original UCI
Control Classical
Status Official 180/180
Blitz — Original UCI Track

Provisional Blitz surface currently published as an in-progress audit surface at 310/660. It is useful for following the event, but it must remain labelled as provisional while the regular phase continues.

Track Original UCI
Control Blitz
Status Provisional 310/660

Derived Stockfish Track — current surfaces

The Derived Stockfish Track continues to preserve its own league Elo and knockout audit records. The derived branch must remain visible but secondary, and its results must never be merged into the Original UCI historical rating line.

Bullet — Derived Stockfish Track

The closed league-stage Bullet surface is based on 918 games, 18 engines, 102 games per engine and an official base of 3700. Knockout results are audit records and must not overwrite the league Elo archive.

Track Derived Stockfish
Control Bullet 60s+2
Games 918 league games
Engines 18
Per engine 102 games
Base 3700
Classical — Derived Stockfish Track

The April closed final and its downloadable event pack support the historical record, but the final itself is not a standalone universal rating authority. It belongs to Archive, Winners and Downloads, while rating interpretation stays in the rating surface.

Methodological Safeguards

What the hub must prevent

  • Mixing Original UCI and Derived Stockfish data in the same historical line.
  • Presenting provisional event-stage Elo as final scientific authority.
  • Using final match winners as a substitute for rating-list methodology.
  • Collapsing Bullet, Blitz and Classical results into a single context-free claim.

What the hub must expose

  • Track identity.
  • Time control.
  • Publication status.
  • Game count or progress marker where applicable.
  • Links to events, downloads, archive and rules when the rating surface depends on support material.
